There is approximately a 2-5 week wait between the time we receive your deposit and engine and the time we ship the engine back out. $1500 base price with $750 deposit up front. An external gasket kit (if required, see below) costs an additional $450This price is for a shortblock rebuild and will require your core (the same year/model you wish to receive back) up front. This price that assumes your core is fully rebuildable as costs will increase if additional parts (i.e. rotor housing, rotor, etc) will be required to rebuild your engine The "base price" includes the required deposit meaning that the $1500 base price is $750 up-front and $750 at the time your engine is rebuild is complete. Note: If you will require an external gasket kit (for assembly of manifolds, externals, etc.) then that cost is extra. This cost must be paid at the time of your deposit. An external gasket kit is not required for a shortblock rebuild however if you are opting for a full longblock build, this kit will be required. ALL engines receive the following:
Other options and upgrades are available. Please inquire. If your engine requires hard part replacement (iron plates, rotors, housings) we attempt to source these parts from good core motors (if available) at extra cost to the customer. If a customer prefers, new parts may be installed. We paint all engines at no additional cost. This assists in resisting corrosion and increases the aesthetics of your engine. We will normally paint the irons in black and aluminum rotor housings/front covers are left unpainted. We will at your option paint the rotor housings/ front cover. If you wish, you can choose other readily available engine color or scheme for your engine. How are our prices so reasonable?Because most wear in a rotary occurs on the apex seals, many other seals may be reused/reclaimed including corner seals, side seals and oil control rings. We inspect each seal for wear and if it is within spec, it is reused. This keeps the cost of replacements parts down allowing us to pass on the saving to our customers. If a customer would rather replace all seals, we will be happy to comply for an additional cost. Also we do not lap the side housing as we believe it is not only not necessary (as long as the housings are within spec) but it also removes the nitriding process that was performed from Mazda. Lapping is a process of grinding the side housings (aka "plates") flat, getting rid of all the seal ruts and other wear. Nitriding is a surface hardening process. Since 1979, all the plates come nitrided from the factory, so they wear more slowly, but if you lap the plates some of that hardening is removed. If a customer would like to have their irons lapped, then we would recommend Pineapple Racing's lapping and re-nitriding process. The cost is approximately $600 (plus shipping to/from Pineapple Racing) to have the housings lapped and re-nitrided. Many shops will just lap the housing, however we believe that if you choose to lap the housings then re-nitriding should be perfumed as well.
