Engine Removal

RX7_eng_bg.JPG (71592 bytes)

On a limited basis, we offer removal and installation along with the rebuilding of your engine. In this case, a customer will be required to transport their vehicle to our location. A fifty percent deposit is required for this service. Drop off must be scheduled in advance as we only work on one vehicle at a time with storage for a few additional vehicles. Due to workloads, we are not always able to accept your vehicle for weeks.

We will remove the engine, clean and tear it down, and evaluate it's condition. After tear down and inspection, we will call the customer to inform them of any issues with the engine internal or external accessories. We'll inform the customer if these components may be repaired or if they will require replacement and we will offer options related to each. We will require customer approval before any further work is performed.  The rebuild will be performed with any customer specified options.

After engine assembly is complete, the engine is reinstalled in the car and fluids are filled. We will then start the car and test for leaks. Finally the car is driven from 15 to 100 miles to check for any additional leaks, proper boost functionality (if a turbo model) and any other issues. Please be sure the vehicle is properly titled and insured. If this is not possible, then we will only start the engine to check for leaks but we can not and will not road test the vehicle and test for leaks, proper turbo function, etc. Once the vehicle reassemble is completed, we request that the vehicle is picked up within two weeks (unless previous arrangements have been made). This is due to our limited storage space and customers queued behind you. Cars not picked up within two weeks of completion may be charged a storage fee.

Replacement and or upgraded parts may typically be used during reassemble with no additional labor charge to the customer. Note that we would require the customer provide these parts or pay for their purchase prior to the time we order the parts. We recommend replacement of all rubber hoses with silicone hoses at this time. These parts are usually not included in gasket or rebuild kits. Below is a list of parts we would recommend for replacement at the time of engine rebuild / installation. Though most of these parts can be reused, if one part fails this could lead to the failure of your new engine (that would not be covered under our warranty).

spark plugs

Engine wiring harness (they tend to fail due to heat)

Water pump

thermostat

oil metering pump feed lines to engine

vacuum hoses, check valves (check or replace), and solenoids (check and replace as necessary)  - if running emissions or sequential turbos

radiator hoses

new heater core hoses

other coolant hoses (throttle body, etc)

Fuel Injector o-rings

Fuel pulsation damper on primary fuel rail

belts

clutch (stock or upgrade).

The following other items should be considered for replacement

fuel filter

fuel pump

check and possibly drain/clean gas tank

clutch slave and master cylinder and soft clutch hose

radiator (recommend all metal aftermarket replacement due to deterioration of stock plastic endtanks)

exhaust components and gaskets

transmission rear seal
